ALICIA EN SU
PAÍS DE MARAVILLAS
Role: Co-Writer, Co-Director
Alicia, came from Nicaragua to live in one of Costa Rica's poorest and unsafest neighborhoods, La Carpio. This forgotten part of the city has become Alicia's home, where after years of work she has been able to be a key player when opening a community center and organization that contributes to the neighborhood. In this documentary, we go through the history of SIFAIS, an institution she has seen from its creation and witnessed how it has now turned into a community of people that fight back the regard of society from being from on of the most marginal parts of San José and home to its biggest immigration community.
In this documentary, we join Alicia, her son, and some members from the SIFAIs community as they take over the annual Christmas play in San Jose's National Theater and enjoy a space that has traditionally remained outside their reach. This time they form part of the play: "Alice in Wonderland"
